I love how, with knitting, I can complete a project, from start to finish, in the car! On our way to Indiana Dunes Friday, I was able to knit this little bowl.
I have been wanting to make something like this for a while now. The pattern is from Rhythm of Family. I finally figured out the double pointed needles and I had some leftover yarn that I thought would work. I have a front loading machine so I think it doesn't felt things like a regular machine, but I am pleased with how it turned out. I have washed it twice and I think I will do it one more time. It's holding some of the treasures that we found during our camping trip. I'm working on another one that will be a little wider and not as deep.
I recently came across the book The Gentle Art of Knitting by Jane Brocket. I loved The Gentle Art of Domesticity and have checked it out from the library a couple of times. The Gentle Art of Knitting has a lot of things in it I would love to try and she has a way of writing which makes me think I actually could succeed. Then I saw that she has written some children's books too. Of course I ordered all of those from the library too! :)
Your bowl came out great! I love instant gratification. I never thought to knit a bowl. Silly me!
ReplyDeleteThe bowl is cute! I just saw a similar project in the book I've been reading. I'll have to check out the books you recommended at the library - they sound interesting.
ReplyDeleteok...you know i don't knit but would that cute little bowl take the place of daddy's can coolies???
ReplyDeleteCongrats on conquering dpns! On to socks next? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely bowl! I have had Rhythm of the Family on my list of things to read forever. I'll just have to get it out of the library on my next trip, I think! Glad I stopped by from the Yarn Along.
ReplyDeleteI love the red bowl...that would make a very nice Christmas gift!!
