Visiting the Memphis Zoo

We made our semi-annual trek to Mississippi last week.  We decided to take a different route this year and go through Memphis instead of Nashville.  We are very familiar with Nashville (we both went to college there and I used to lived close by when in grade school and Jr. High), but we had never been to Memphis.  In doing some research I found out that their zoo has panda bears.  Well that was a "no brainer" for us!  We love pandas.  We went to a zoo in China and there were pandas there, but they were very old, and the set up made them very difficult to see at all.  Also, Kate doesn't remember.  So Sunday morning, after going to church with friends who used to live here, we headed off to the zoo.

We were not disappointed!

Callie and I both took a ton of pictures.  I'll try to limit myself! :)

Isn't he the cutest thing?!  He was eating like there was no tomorrow.  The other one was behind a glass case sound asleep and that picture didn't turn out too well.

Few things make Kate as happy as water.  She has always been that way.  She's not picky.  It could be a sink full of water and her Barbies going swimming or a real pool or one of these set ups.  It could be 50 degrees or 90, she doesn't care.

Notice how she is the only one in the water?  See the mom in the background dragging her kid away? LOL  Some parents were looking at her like "What are her parents thinking?!"  Apparently, in Memphis, it has to be much warmer than 70 degrees to play in the water.

It was a wonderful visit and a great zoo.  I will spare you all the other pictures we took.  Suffice it to say, the other exhibits were equally well done and we highly recommend it.
