When I made Kate's Fourth of July dress and head piece, I asked Callie if she wanted something for her hair. She showed me a picture of what she wanted.
These could hardly be any easier! I guessed at the length, it turned out good and over the last few weeks I've made her a few more. She loves them and they look so cute on her. And it keeps those frizzies down a bit.
I took a strip of fabric, rounded the corners at the ends, sewed right sides together leaving a gap to turn right side out, then sew up the gap, press and your done! She ties in a knot at the top and usually tucks the ends underneath the rest of the band.

As for reading, I finally finished Ten Ways To Destroy The Imagination of Your Child by Anthony Esolen. This book was not exactly what I expected. I expected a little bit of an "artsy, let your children pretend to be fairies all day" kind of book. Part of the book I really loved, part of it was over my head, part of it made me feel like a complete loser as a parent and teacher, and then part of it, I really loved. I'm glad I read it and I would recommend it, it's just not exactly "light" reading.
Now I'm reading The Great Gatsby. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but it has grown on me. I'm anxious to see how it all turns out as I know nothing about it.
Cute pictures! The middle one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the headband instructions! I think I might try one!
