Turning 8

"Goodbye 7."  "I'll miss 7."  "This is my last day being 7."   I can't tell you how many time I heard these phrases yesterday.  Kate has never before been this excited about her birthday, I don't think.  She didn't even mind waking up and eating breakfast this morning.  Of course, who would be grumpy waking up to chocolate chip pancakes and bacon?!

Today Kate is 8.  It just doesn't seem like it was that long ago that we brought her home.  I can't stop the thoughts of what her birth day may have been like and wonder about her birth mother.  I'll admit to being somewhat relieved that we know next to nothing about Kate's beginnings.  I do know that somehow her mother was able to give this child life under incredibly difficult circumstances and for that I will always be eternally grateful.  To the woman and to God.

Kate loves to craft.  She smiled big smiles when she unwrapped her very own craft book.  And she made sure it was hers and didn't have to go back to the library.

She loves animals and squealed over her puppy calendar.

She loves bacon and yet she shared her extra piece with me.  Cameron was a little jealous I think.

She loves snow.  She asked if it was snowing when she got up and was disappointed when I told her no.  Never mind the fact that it snowed all day yesterday and some 12 inches last week.  She's hoping it snows tomorrow for her snowman cupcakes with cousins.

She loves Jesus.  She asks me, at least once a week, to pray that she can go see him soon.  I never pray that. :)  But I do pray that we will ALL see him soon.

She loves Callie.  She struggles with showing it sometimes, but she really does love her.

Happy Birthday Kate!!  We love you very much!!
